Our Staff

Our Centre employs qualified Educators with a range of relevant qualifications and experience to provide an educational program, which meets the needs of all children and families using the kindergarten.

All our groups are run by a Certified Supervisor (Educator) and a Co-Educator. Our Educators and Co-Educators have extensive experience in early childhood development and have been with the kindergarten for a number of years. When required, relief educators are organised and managed by the Committee of Management.

Samantha Davies

Samantha Davies has been a member of the Chelsea Kindergarten community as a parent and a teacher of three year old and four year old groups since 2002. She is a mother of
five children, all who attended Chelsea Kindergarten.

Samantha studied at Melbourne University, graduating with a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood Education in 1994. Previous to her association with Chelsea Kindergarten she had eight years’ experience teaching three and four year old kindergarten, as well as being a family day carer in the City of Moonee Ponds.
Samantha is passionate about providing early childhood education that is inclusive of all children and their families, and believes that a strong relationship with the family should underpin the teachings, interactions and supportive relationship developed with each child.
A respect for each child’s uniqueness and emotional wellbeing is a strong part of her teachings.

Since returning to Chelsea Kindergarten as a four year old teacher in 2012, she has been committed to gaining knowledge in current and leading practice in early childhood education including the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the National Quality Framework. Samantha believes that supporting children’s passions, interests and ability enables children to become confident and engaged learners, establishing positive attitudes towards learning at an early age.

Leura Vorbach

Leura has been a kindergarten teacher for more than 25 years. During her career in early childhood education she has worked full-time as an educational leader and in part-time roles across the inner city, bayside areas and in country Victoria.

Her passion is teaching three year old kindergarten children. She enjoys working and supporting children through the challenging beginning of starting kindergarten and seeing them grow and develop into unique beings ready for four year old kindergarten.

Leura incorporates her passion for gardening and sustainable living into the curriculum, working with children to maintain the vegie patch, care for animals and use recycled materials. She also includes dramatic play in her sessions as she believes it helps children to draw on their everyday experiences and express their imagination.

Leura completed a Diploma of Education – Early Childhood and a Graduate Diploma in
Education at Melbourne University.

Melissa Goodall
Early Childhood Teacher

Melissa graduated from Swinburne in 2016 with a Bachelor Of Education (Early Childhood) and is qualified to teach children from 0-8 years.
She has worked in sessional kindergartens as an early childhood teacher for the past 2 years. Prior to this she worked as an educator for 7 years in sessional kindergarten programs within the City of Casey and Cardina Shire, 3 of these years for Yooralla supporting children with additional needs.

She has a passion for inclusion and believes in forming relationships with children and families to create a partnership for success. She sees kindergarten as a community whereby children having the opportunity to make friendships and connections whilst building their foundations for learning. Melissa has a strong focus on Wellbeing, with a program encompassing avenues for children to express and develop their emotions. She sees children as competent and capable individuals, who through play will have many opportunities to follow their interests, strengths and be supported in their individual needs.

Jackie Leitch

Jackie has been working with children since 2005, having spent time as an Educator at kindergartens in Aspendale Gardens, Frankston South and here at Chelsea. She is passionate about helping children learn and become independent through play, and has a strong interest in bush kinder programs.

In 2018 she travelled to Scandinavia and took part in a “Forest School” program in Denmark to learn more about best-practice in nature based play and learning in early childhood education throughout the world, and is pleased to bring her knowledge back to Chelsea Kinder to implement in the program. She also enjoys reading with children and expanding their literacy and numeracy skills in a fun way through books and play.

She is also the Office Manager at the kinder.
She is a mum of two teenagers and has lived in the area most of her life.

Maree Scott

Maree has been with Chelsea Kindergarten for more than 15 years, supporting both three and four year old kindergarten programs.

She holds a Diploma in Children’s Services and has previous experience in early childhood development including working at the local Chelsea Heights Kindergarten.

Maree enjoys guiding and encouraging children to achieve their personal milestones and is passionate about helping children be happy and independent in their kindergarten environment.

Samantha Payet

Samantha has a gentle caring approach and believes that helps children feel secure and engaged in their kindergarten environment.
With a passion to work with children after the birth of her daughter, she embarked on a new career in Early Childhood and has not looked back. She holds a Certificate III in Early Child Education and Care and is currently completing her Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
With a quiet and considered personality, Samantha works well with all children and is passionate about helping them to be the best they can be. Samantha will be supporting both three and four year old kindergarten programs.
